Website Accessibility Help

This website has been created and designed according to accessibility standards, and will continue to maintain these standards.

Current accessible features being used are:

• Each page has been defined by the use of colour, font and layout using cascading style sheets (CSS2).
• This makes pages smaller and quicker to download.
• Text is re-sizeable automatically depending on browser and resolution used. You can also resize on your browser (refer to the text resizing section below).
• Images have alternative and description text that is appropriate to its function.
• With the exception of the search, print, sitemap and FAQ buttons, images of text are avoided.
• Content has been structured with logical headings.
• This site colour is based on red, black and lilac colour and should be viewable in black and white.
• Pages that contain PDF, will have links to enable you to download a copy of Adobe Reader.
• If you find that any of the above features fail on your browser, please contact via the contacts page, giving the page name or web address and error, so that the problem can be addressed.

Skip links

• Skip links have been provided for those that have impaired vision or mobility, to "bypass/skip" around the main navigation features on the page, avoiding the need to press the TAB key to reach the point at which you want to start reading.
• The top navigation and side navigation have been given two distinct skip links.
• If you want to find links, to other areas of the site, simply tab through the skip links until you reach any of the links you require.

Help and advice

Resizing text in your browser

• If the text on the website is too large or small for you to read comfortably, follow the instructions below to change your browser text size setting.
• Increasing the browser text size setting will make text on the webpage larger (and possibly easier to read), while decreasing the size will make the text smaller, enabling you to see more of the webpage without scrolling.

Internet Explorer 5+

In the toolbar at the top of your browser window labeled "View" find the item labeled "Text Size", which opens a sub-menu. This sub-menu has the options "Largest", "Larger", "Medium", "Smaller", and "Smallest". One of these items should be marked to show that it is the current text size.

Mozilla Fire Fox / Opera / Safari / Netscape

In the toolbar at the top of your browser window labeled "View" find the item labeled "Text Size ". When you select this item a sub-menu will open which gives you two options, one to increase text size in stages, the other to reduce it in stages.

Alternatively, you can hold down the keyboard "Ctrl" key and press the "+" or "-" (plus or minus) keys to increase or decrease your text size.

Access Keys

We have introduced Access Keys on the site that will enable you to press keys to navigate instead of using a mouse:

To use Access Keys, PC users would need to press Alt + [Access Key] and Mac users would need to press Ctrl + [Access Key].

For some browsers you may need to press the enter Key to activate the link. In Firefox 2, you will have to press Ctrl + Alt + [Access Key] to use the accesskey.
